  1. Has anyone heard any results from Seneca County BOE yet?

  2. No, as soon as I hear we will post.

  3. Alright thanks. I know many of us are eagerly awaiting results.

  4. I know it’s not much but CNN.com has 1% of Seneca County in and Hillary is winning 58%-40% . . . haha meaningless I know.

  5. Looking like Steyer, Meyer and Courthouse demolition are winning from what I hear.

  6. …and Jeff “Dr. No” Wagner too…

  7. The gap is closing between Hillary and Obama. At one point I saw Hillary ahead by 20%. Now it’s down to 14%

  12. is that good or bad?

  13. Hey my sources at the BOE say Meyer is up with 36% with nearly 60% counted. The next closest has 17%. I think this race is called.

  14. I thought is was a very good letter. You put a great deal of thought and feeling into it.

  15. Did they give a second place?

  16. Jay Meyer 36%
    Susan Jones 17%

  17. This whole courthouse debate, after watching it for a long time, is nothing but name calling and whinning from the preservationists. reading alot of blogs posted by them its obvious they don’t care about this vote. there will still be more to come. that’s sad because its going to be a 70/30 against, just as i predicted on another blog

Jones fought hard for judge, good for her. meyer was a hard guy to beat

  18. Steyer won too.

  19. What happens if he (Steyer) gets another job before the end of the year?

  20. Another person will be appointed.

I think they have just counted absentee ballots, since there were so many, but the results are still holding for people who voted today.

  36. It is going be be Sauber and Crist

  37. Just wanted to pass along that Karen Gillmor trounced Steve Reinhard for the State Senate.

  38. Wow, does that mean she will move to the district or does Dublin Ohio get an extra State Senator

  39. Alright here are the results of the Judge Race with 100% reporting:

  42. I hope that the people who voted against the bond issue truely want a new courthouse, one that everyone can point to with pride, a new symbol of Seneca County, because I can live with that. But if they simply voted against a possible tax I think they made a mistake. I’ve been reading how wonderful it is that Lowe’s is coming to Tiffin, and I agree, but businesses like Lowes, Kohls, Walmart, McDonalds and Wendys are not symbols of Seneca County, you can see that stuff anywhere in the United States.

  43. WHERE will Sauber store his sign for the next two years? Will it be in a highly-visible parking lot, or on the Courthouse lawn? Inquiring minds want to know!

  44. Sen. Blu.: Remember the Old Fort roots for the Gillmor family name. There is a white fence, ringing a grazing area for horses there. There is also a Gillmor roadside stand for fruits and vegetables. Everyone knows a fence and a sweet corn bin denote residency – even if it’s only for political gain.

  45. If the commissioners had presented two bond issues: 1. 8.5 million for a new courthouse and 2. 8.5 million for restoration, I predict they both would have failed. However, among the yes votes we could have determined whether new construction or restoration was the preferred course of action.

  46. Didn’t the save the courthouse group actually write the issue?

  47. No the commissioners wrote the issue. In fact the commissioners came up with the idea of a bond issue. SaveOur Courthouse knew that tying the restoration of the courthouse to a tax was certain failure. Many in the group saw this as a dirty trick.

  48. gwn – what attorney actually wrote it?

  49. I recall from articles in the A-T that John Larson of Squire, Sanders and Dempsey was consulted by the commissioners regarding the bond issue.

  50. I have a few suggestions of what WE can do with Sauber’s big sign. Unfortunately, we will be seing alot of it this fall since he has competition, Fletcher. Maybe he will use this time to get a fresh coat of paint on it.

  51. OK, now tear the Courthouse down already.

  52. Insider – Maybe someone should paint his opponents names on it, Huss on one side and Fletcher on the other.
The only result that really surprised me was sheriff.
Someone said they seen Fletcher on TV13 news last night, saying the fight is not over. Maybe she should look at Engle’s number of votes. Hello, hello, is any one in there?

  53. I saw her interview. She did well. Channel 13 is owned by the same company that has the Blade, and the Blade certainly pushed to save the courthouse. Crist said he would try to save it too, no matter what the popular vote. I don’t know him. Could someone please fill in the bloggers on him?

  54. Johnny – As for you being surprised by the Sheriff’s race, you and me both. Look at my post under Coach section. is there any way that Steyer and Stevens’s numbers were mixed up??? I’m just wondering as from my exit polling it should be the other way around!!!!!!!

  55. Getsome – It makes you wonder if voters read the names. The first three letters are the same in both names. I can’t remember which one was first on ballot.

  56. The names are rotated on the ballots. Absolutely the similarity was a problem.

Aaron – Thanks so getting in information for everyone. Is your my space page available to view for the bloggers? I have not been able to get it up.

  57. scout: yes, my myspace page should be available for anyone to see. the direct link is http://www.myspace.com/aaronmontz

no thanks needed with the info, I just had a good source down at the BOE supplying the info.

As for Bill Crist and the Courthouse: He tells me that he misspoke at the Commissioner’s forum because he did not correctly understand the question asked. Prior to the March 4th vote he told me that there is a proper mechanism in place (the .72 mill tax issue) to decide the fate of the Courthouse. He told me specifically that he will abide by whatever decision the people make March 4th.

  58. The voters of Seneca County have really put the commissioners and all city and county officials between a rock and a hard place. Govenor Strickland, Representative Ujvagi and Rep. Gardner went out of their way to help us with solving the courthouse issue. What will these gentlemen think the next time we ask for assistance?

  59. Hopefully, they will see the clear mandate of the voters carried out.

  60. County Bond Courthouse

    For 6, 276 36.38%

    Against 10, 974 63.62

I THOUGHT that’s what I read – somewhere! Today’s A-T reports clamor enough to indicate that I misread something. Apparently, the mind of the people is folly!

  61. Ken, obviously the preservationists feel they are more “enlightened” than us common folk…all ten thousand of us that voted against the levy. The ironic part, is they were probably the same folk that cried loudest and longest when the commissioners overrode the vote against the sales tax.

How predictable was it that the vote didn’t go their way, so now they cry, “the commissioners cheated”?

  62. gwn – I really don’t think any of them will think less of our county. Politicians are asked for time and dollars all the time. Thousands of people contact them on different issues. They won’t think this is a cry wolf thing, just that there wasn’t enough public support. It happens all the time.

I can tell from your postings that you care a great deal about our community. We all really care no matter how we voted, we just have different opinions. I will say this, no matter if it is new construction or rehabilitation, the county is going to run out of room as is the case in other counties.
